Not long ago I had a go
trying to understand plight.
I got hit by ego’s echo
standing in the limelight.
I felt hurt, but they decided I must go
because it’s wrong to put up a fight.
It’s hard when you can’t follow
ego’s echo pulling you with spite.
We are all kites trying to plough
the skies with our light.
But it only takes a crow
to stop your flight with just a bite!
It will eat your soul raw
to break you with fright;
trapping your mind in a floe
to keep you from doing what’s right.
And as your blood starts to flow
it will hold your heart tight
to crush it with resentment’s throe
to feed their endless spite.
Jealousy is a bitter snow
that melts with light but spreads at night.
It hides under malice’s bushes to grow
feeding on hurt’s blite pretending to be wright.
And because I know how to stop that snow,
I will fly my kite doing what’s right as I write.
I will be the sun that melts your snow
And the fire that burns your bushes of malice out of sight.
Author’s Notes:
Suicide from depression due to bullying writers and artists on social media is a real threat. Everyday, we see many of those people who claim to be accomplished writers and influencers break down and tear people and their ideas. They hide behind critique and knowing more using their so called established status in the industry. The truth is, they are ugly, harmful, and spiteful people who forgot that it’s the ordinary people who bought their books and got them there in the limelight. It’s important to tell people no matter who you are and what kind of work you do or share, you matter. No one has the right to belittle you, bully you, or make you feel less. We are your people. We are here for you and you are not alone.
