Stop chasing perfection!

We have a problem though, and that is, most of the time we are trying to chase perfection which most of the times isn’t achievable. The most important relationship we have in our life’s is that which we have with ourselves but we aren’t taught about it.

We need to understand that there is a great need for us to learn about self care. This talk by model Iskra Lawrence asserts that we all need to be taught on how to look after ourselves physically, mentally and emotionally. Understanding the need for self care will enable us to live happier, combat our insecurities, reach our full potential and live a more fulfilling life.

Have you ever blamed yourself, your body or even mind for anything that didn’t work out well in your life? For example, ‘I scored this low in this test because I am stupid’ or ‘ she didn’t even want to talk to me, I bet it’s because am ugly’ and you end up hating yourself.

With the rise of social media we have a record of massive self destruction to our self esteem.at some point you have lost one, two or maybe three hours of your time deep in someones profile thinking of how perfect their life is or how they are always on this perfect holidays or how attractive they are and you end up asking what is wrong with your life? But the most scary thing is that all this is a lie.social media is often accurate, filtered and airbrushed. It’s time that we get to learn how to physically, mentally and emotional take care of ourselves.

Why we feel all these insecurities because from a very young age we have been conditioned to believe our success and happiness is based on our attractiveness and brilliance or may depend on how smart we are. The magazines, on the other hand, seems to be so much celebrating issues such as weight loss, which is actually unhealthy, just because when we are insecure we become a motivated consumer. We can be sold an anti-wrinkle cream at 18 years, or get a push up bra to give you a cleavage, or butt pads so a sto look thicker and it is becoming so detrimental to our physical and mental health making the magazines and the brands win yet we are the ones loosing.
