MY HEAVEN

I am staring at the wall… Looking rather blank,
I am confused,
Lonely,
Lost…
My thoughts are scattered,
They need an anchor.
But where is it?
Where is my little slice of heaven?
The room is in shambles…
A result of a thorough, desperate search
They took it away,
My heaven…
They don’t know that without it,
I can’t function,
Nothing works right,
Nothing tastes right,
Nothing goes right.
My mind is blocked,
Disconnected from my body and soul,
Restless… And eventually useless.
‘Ah’, I remember,
They didn’t check the ceiling…
So up I go like a little monkey
And there… I find my joy.
Just a few pieces remaining,
I’ll have to replace them soon,
But for now,
Such small round white tablets…
Yet the joy they bring to me,
The peace in my soul.
I swallow four,
And I wait… Not a long,
Ah… Yes,
I reconnect to myself and to the universe…
Everything becomes right
The ringing in my ears ends,
My hands stop shaking,
My heart calms down,
My breath settles in my chest,
The darkness clouding my vision goes away,
And I can see and I can hear,
‘You’re back’, my sister says
I didn’t like losing this connection with her…
I lost it once when she died
But she came back to me
And she keeps me company.
‘Yes’, I say smiling,
‘I am back to my heaven’.
