Stifled

I should have been acute to his words,
But I chose not to.
I could have cut off his advances;
When I saw the glaring crimson-red flags,
But I chose to embrace them.
I wanted to see,
If everything was delusional.

For a teeny bit,
I wished to be embraced by him,
To be doted on endlessly,
So much,
To the extent of making my heart,
Melt into a puddle.
So effing much,
That whenever I saw him,
My eyes would flicker,
With a bright light.

Here I am though,
Stifled, broken and lost,
Heart in tatters,
With no intention of living,
Ever since he left.

Everything feels numb ;
Or maybe I just plummeted,
Too deep in the endless abyss,
So much that I,
Couldn’t grasp the flash of light,
That was glaringly obvious,
On the shallows.
