Another day in the harsh city of Nairobi, Eric Wayne, a Tiktoker known for helping homeless people, is once again on his mission to make the world a better place. Known for his kindness and ability to put smiles on people’s faces, Eric’s mission is one that proves that there is hope for a better society.
Today, he meets with Stephen Ngige, a middle-aged homeless man in Zimmerman, Nairobi. The latter is at his usual ‘residence,’ under an apartment staircase, as he interacts with Eric, a face that seems familiar to him as their interaction is natural and unwavering. Perhaps it is the effect that Eric has on people, or that he has interacted with Stephen a few times, something that wins the hearts of many.
@wayne_erikoh It’s so unfair to be in such a situation and the people who did this are out there hustling. #homeless #help #kindness #AMEN #believe ♬ Get You The Moon – Kina
In the video he shared, Eric tells the story of Stephen as one of the many cases of police brutality in Kenya, a subject that has been on the discussion boards for years, and unfortunately, nothing has changed.
As Eric explains, Stephen was once a conductor who had a run-in with the police officers of the Kenya Prisons Department, an encounter that left him with a loss of mobility, thanks to his broken legs, an unwanted gift from the nation’s police brutality.
He was unable to get his legs treated for lack of finances, and as such, he has since remained in a condition that could have been avoided had the officers been kind and considerate.
Unable to do anything or even provide for himself, he ended up homeless on the streets of Zimmerman. His condition and his inability to work led to depression and stress, something that he tries to deal with by drowning in alcohol in the hope that the pain can go away, but it never does.
Stephen survives on painkillers, an addiction that doesn’t seem to go away, as the pain in his legs is still existent, and he remains a man without help. In the video, Eric is seen giving Stephen painkillers for his pain— a kind man in a society so cruel.
The damage is done, and a man once able to care for himself and his loved ones is reduced to a homeless man with nothing but pain.
Eric Wayne shared details on how to reach him and how to join the cause to make people’s lives better. You can check his account and see how you can help those he interacts with and sheds light on.
As heartbreaking as Stephen’s situation is, Eric’s kindness proves that there are people determined to be the light out there and make the world a better place. We hope that Stephen gets the help he needs, and we appreciate Eric for his acts of kindness. Together, we can make the world a better place.
