Heart Of Gold Turned Into Stone
My big heart turned cold
My smiles and laughter grew old
I hated myself for what I’d become
But after everything
It felt inevitable
The heart of gold I was known for
The warm, demeanor I once held with care
Faded into a dull shade of amber
Heavy with pain, anger, and neglect
Just as I always feared
I’ve reached the point
Where my heart is only a beating organ
No longer the warm center of my being
My sense of feeling faded,
As quickly as that golden heart
Losing emotion, losing ambition
Losing the things I once carried so proudly
Everyone asks where the sweet girl went
The one who hugged everyone goodnight
I think she learned that this world
Has a way of turning big hearts
Into stone
