Beautiful Façade

You embraced me first,
In the shades of our beautiful house,
The house that marked the start of a saddening journey,
Under the daylight sky,
Enlightened me on how to read the stars,
At last, I trusted in your warmth;
Perhaps I’d always wished to.

You had my hand in yours as we strolled,
Taught me how to relish in if not value life,
Always setting my budding heart in turmoil.

You clang unto the heart,
That which had learned to only adore you,
Never once desisted me,
Oh,how beautiful familial love is!
I thought,
Only to be met by mocking reality;
That ’twas a facade all along.

You entwined your fingers with mine,
Taught me how to cherish blood connections,
You revived me from ashes,
Only to rob me of my wish to live once again,
Did you enjoy seeing me wobble into panic that much?

You stripped me of my will to live,
The moment you called me despising names,
As you locked me in that dark and dreary cubicle,
Without tending to my battered self,
With wounds and cuts,
Inflicted on me by your endless beatings,
Tell me,
Am I just your punching bag?
