Whip Flashes

Whipped Flashes
They prefer calling it discipline.
A necessary guiding hand,
But it was a whip I could not withstand.
For every mischief, for every blip,
I prepared my body and soul for the coming grip.
Questions were not asked,
Lessons were not shared.

It was just the anger that they never spared.
I learned that I had to stay quiet, to disappear,
My thoughts, fears I had to snip.
The belt louder than their voices.
Shame became my ship.
Every bruise holds a silent scar,
Their mark of love went too far.

All grown up now, but still, I can’t confide,
A wide and tall wall formed beside.
Carrying wounds till now,
Terrified to grasp for the simple joys.
A past I can’t skip, so distant,
With a hold that is not too pleasant.
