All I Needed Was A Friend

At the gaze of the ceiling above,
I find peace, quiet, and comfort,
Not because I am lost in despair,
But life has offered its trials to bear.

Living life without friends,
Not by choice, but how it ends.
Now I’m forced to walk this path alone.
Sounds hard to believe, but there the truth lies.

The joy of friendship was never mine,
A curse they said, a telling sign.
Lonely whispers filled my day,
While my parents looked away.

Not a friend, not a family, to hold or care
My world crumbled before my eyes,
The rejection from school my soul,
I nearly lost what was once secure.

At this moment, no one to call buddy,
The isolation shaped me in every way.
Yearning for that warmth that never came,
All I needed was a friend.
