The long nights, the darkness deep,
The life of a small child,
Devoured by a sick beast,
Who saw it right,
To do all that was wrong.
I learnt to cry silently,
To hide wounds that hurt deeply,
I was made to swear to secrecy,
or else I would meet more pain.
I could tell no one, no one could tell.
His shadow follows me,
His stench haunts my peace,
Anger fills every memory,
I’m uncomfortable in my skin,
How I wish he paid for his sins.
A shuttered past, stolen trust,
I did not have time to be child,
It went by so fast
But as long as my heart still beats,
I’ll one day, find the peace I seek
