BLEEDING HEART OF GOLD

They said she had a heart of gold,
She kept acting to uphold,
Slowly, she lost herself in the process,
And when they realized,
It was already late, she was no more,
She had plunged into an abyss,
A place of no escape, a place of no return,

She put on a smile though she was hurting inside,
She said it was okay, when clearly it wasn’t,
Her sanity was gradually crumbling, and none
could see,

Evil started lurking in her mind, whispering,
Her path kept getting dark and darker,
She was losing herself fast,
And there was nothing she could do, so she thought,

One fateful day, owing to the years of struggling,
She filled the bath tub with warm water and red roses,
She stripped off her her clothes, and slipped into the tub,
Her eyes were glistened with tears, her make up a ruin,
In her hand she held a knife,
She looked over her shoulder, her eyes falling on the door knob
She hoped someone would budge in to stop
Her from what she was about to do,
Sadly, she was short of luck,

She turned, determined to go through with it,
She slit her two wrists, whimpering as blood
gushed out,
She lay her head on the hard tub and looked at
The bathroom ceiling, her eyes followed
The flower patterns,

She began feeling lightheaded, her heart raced,
Her vision blurred, she felt the cold creeping in,
Her skin turned blue, she started shivering,
Her mind become fuzzy, but before she passed out,
The image of her mother appeared dressed in black,
she was sobbing. “What have you done dear?”
The voice came cracking.
“Am sorry mom…” She replied, then everything went black.

The suicide note revealed she suffered from major depression.
They couldn’t believe they missed it. They wished they could go back in time.
They wished they had a chance to make it right, but that window was already
gone. Don’t wait till it’s late, depression is real. Be the pillar, be the
Lighthouse, be there for that someone! You never know, you might save a life.
