From over the seas
You came soaring in the skies
And brought the whole world to its knees

You spread Far and wide
Painted the world red
Seeded misery
Seeded dread

Sent thousands six feet below
To rot and crumble
Laid hundreds of thousands in beds
To be fed by tubes
To cling on the slightest bit of life
Sustained by machines

Borders have been shut
Institutions closed
Society broken
Paper money spurned

How we came to this I don’t know
Except I know one thing
I know we shall overcome
I know that with utmost certainty
It’s us against COVID 19
