A 19-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by seven men, among them a minor, in Palermo, Italy. According to sources, the seven men incited the bartender to “get her drunk, and then we will take care of her.” They dragged her to a secluded street, then proceeded to gang rape her and had the youngest film them while at it. They then uploaded the video to the internet, like a prize for them.
The seven, whose names have since been made public are Angelo Flores, Christian Barone, Christian Maronia, Elio Arnao, Gabriele Di Trapani, Riccardo Parrinello, and Samuele La Grassa. The investigators also did note that the minor, who has been released and placed in a rehab facility, participated by slapping the victim’s breasts, and showed ‘disturbing antisocial behaviour.’
The doctor who attended to the victim, said she had injuries all over her body. The victim recalls the horrific incident, saying, “One of them pulled me by the hair and forced me to oral sex, two of them took my hands and put them on their private parts while one abused me from behind. I tried to stop them but they kept swapping places and ignored my plea, saying, ‘We know you like it’.”
The conversations of the men that have since been made public, have astounded Italy as the lack of remorse is evident in the voices of rapists.
“We were 100 dogs over 1 kitten” “We were too many, I was sincerely a bit grossed out, but what was I supposed to do? Meat is meat.”
The men even joked about running away after what they did, on the off chance that they got to the news.
“Imagine if we end up in the news!” “I can go to America in Venezuela.” “I can go to Thailand.”
The judge who presided over the case said, “From their words we understand how, although morally completely indifferent to what happened, they were aware of the possible consequences of the serious events reported, raving about plans to escape abroad”.
The brutality of the seven has brought Italy to a standstill and they have triggered several debates on misogyny in the country, gendered violence, and femicides.
