People? Not today.
Social interaction? Not up for it.
What do you want? Some ‘me’ time. Alone time. Time to bond with myself..
You want to self-isolate.

Life can sometimes be overwhelming. Interaction and people are just too much.
Being alone is the solution. So you seek it.
No noise. No voices. No sightings of people. Just you and a couple of walls and some things you need.
Shangri-La!

So much peace. A moment to be alone with your thoughts and yourself.
No distractions. No arguments, conversations (not counting those you have with yourself). Just you!
Bliss!

You may be self-isolating more and more. Spend most days alone.
Too much of anything is dangerous.
The peace and bliss start to ebb. Now, there is more loneliness than joy at being alone. More sadness with your own self.
Why aren’t people reaching out? Why aren’t people realizing that I’ve been quiet and in for too long? Why wouldn’t someone call?

 
Does anyone really care? I bet not. I’m all I’ve got. I’ll continue staying alone, with myself because this is what I deserve and everyone else doesn’t want me.
And so you continue to self-isolate. The intentions have transformed from seeking peace to mulling over your misery.
And still no one calls. Those who do, you push away because they don’t ‘really’ care.
You go through conversations fast. You just want to get over it and go back to your cave.

But your heart is crying out for people. Your mind is crying out for interaction. You convince both heart and mind that that’s not what they really want.
Yet, when they wanted alone time, you gave it to them without hesitation. But now that they want people, they are faulty and needy.

The door was never closed from the outside. Only from the inside.
Listen and open the door when being alone stops being rewarding. You’ll find those who care on the other side of the door.
Their voices, faces will give you the peace and thaw the cooling heart and mind. Well, until your body asks for another bout of me time.
