Have you ever wondered what mental health is? There are two definitions of mental health, one, as the absence of a mental disorder, and two, scientifically as the physical, social, and emotional well-being. It is how people think, feel, and behave.
Some conditions can affect the mental health of a person and in turn, disrupt a person’s routine. They may include stress, depression, and anxiety. It is, therefore, crucial to look after, preserve, and restore your mental health as this will enable you to enjoy life. The question you are asking yourself now is, how do you maintain your mental health? To achieve this, ensure you balance your life activities, your responsibilities, and efforts to achieve psychological resilience. Well-being allows people to satisfy their needs and cope well with the environment.
It is equally essential to maintain both your physical and mental health since they determine your overall health. When you have a mental illness such as depression, it will increase the risk of long-lasting physical health problems such as stroke and heart disease.
Mental health changes over time and the environment that protects civil, political, social, economic, and cultural rights is a determinant of the social health of a person. There are other ways to boost your mental health. They include; eating healthy, exercising your body, avoiding drinking alcohol and other related drugs and stimulants, having a good sleep, and always having peace of mind, that is, avoiding too much stress.
In conclusion, since our mental health determines how we feel, think, and behave, it is also vital in impacting how we make decisions, how we cope with stressful conditions, and relate well with each other in society. Being healthy mentally, help effectively in activities like work and school. Mental health also determines your relationship health significantly.
