PAIN

BY Sheila Mumbo

Sitting on my bed, wondering,
Why I can’t be enough for you?
Why you twist every word I speak?
Why you can’t reciprocate my love?

When my eyes well up with tears,
And my vision gets blurry,
All I wish for is your gentle touch,
To reassure me that everything will be fine.

But then you’re not here,
The pain cuts deep and my head is spinning,
I start overthinking, wishing I’d escape this moment,
Wishing you would see how hurt I am.

My life is like twisted strings,
I feel trapped in this madness,
I thought I was your only happiness,
I thought I was your everything.
