His words grew less by the night,
But I could see the questions through his eyes,
Could feel his drive to ask,
His eyes fixed to the marks,
The marks that told it all, In fear,he stammered, “Mommy, Why’d You Stay.?”
His eyes full of emotions, But his body still, with no motion,
I wanted to say it, But I couldn’t,
The man he praised,
The man he embraced,
The source of the marks,
The author of a sad tale,
“Is it Daddy. ?
How do I break the admiration in the man ,you call father,.? How do I show you the dark side of the light.?
Why’d you still hold on Mommy.?
I could see the sadness in his eyes,
I could feel his silence,
His distance grew,
His silence deepened,
I wanted him to see his father as a good man,
But I couldn’t hide the scars he left,
The marks he placed,
The bruises he marked,
And the tears in my eyes,
This was indeed a marriage gone sour.
