He held my hands at the door
Placed a light kiss upon them
Sparkling embers rose from my heart
He chased me in that beautiful meadow
I remember I giggled so much my chest hurt
Falling against the thick grass when he caught up to me
Then we just lay there, talking and smiling about nothing
Till late in the moon flooded night where he teased me about my insecurities
Today, he knelt before me
His smile sure yet still playful
And he slipped it on my finger
“Let’s see you take it off”
And I just mellowed into him.
