ACCEPTANCE

I didn’t need to build my walls high,
Nor set boundaries firm,
My difference spoke out loud,
My difference set up my boundaries,
Built high walls,
Left me crawling in my own empire,
The empire of disability,
I was incomplete, not like the rest,
But I needed to accept it,
And stick to my lane,
I had to accept my incompleteness,
My imperfections,
I was tired of fighting who I was,
I was tired of being someone else,
Being something else,
I had to stop trying to be them,
It was time to be me,
Incomplete me,
A step to new way,
Being them led me astray,
I had to change my say,
Accept the disability was here to stay,
I had to be me
