BLINDNESS

My mind entrusted my heart to you
My heart kept its unending desire for you
My eyes held all it saw but only blinked for you
Then came this red beautiful night, the night I wrote on your precious book,
I knew how much commitment I needed, and how much closure and protection you expected
It was barely a week of the second month of spring,
on those private hidden streets of Nairobi,
a day before I was to take you home,
when you decided to be a mother of the dead
Even though our love always flowed through our palms,
I always hated your dark black fingers,
and even though I trusted you much,
they always gave me second thoughts about you,
it all dawned on me when you let down our own deep in the city toilet
I didn’t get a chance to see you thereafter you even blocked and ignored me,
you only praised your deeds and character,
amidst your friends who only appreciated and rejoiced over wrong
My tears flow from the crevices in my heart,
blood oozes out through the vessels in my eyes
My strength lies in the great book of God,
strengths to keep me from persuing and devouring you.
