LONG AGO

I used to live in an old parked taxi
Next to the big black tanks that kept rubbish,
Those that I ate from
And picked clothes that were torn.
I loved the cold out there
It covered my warmth between boxes and sacks
It never made me sick
It just made my skin harder and stronger
The sunlight in the day burned me
It burn my dirt that I felt pleasure in scratching all night
A sweet sensation that I miss today
As much as I can comfortably sit around this fireplace and smile
I can’t forget all that struggle I met before I reached here.
