CHOICES

To some it’s a matter of religion, what the good book says, to others, it’s a matter of morals and to those who believe in nature and good energy, well, it’s a deep sense of humanity I suppose. Life is precious and magical and we’re quick to point fingers at anyone who dares to take it away but here’s a story of a girl who constantly lives in pain and agony because this child is a constant reminder of what she could be but isn’t. So before you set up fire and unleash your anger, just hear her out. Before you dismiss her story as one of the cliché stories that we’ve heard over and over again, just listen.

See life is not black or white, apples or mangoes, there are a lot of gray areas. Life begins at conception, or so they say, but what happens to the girl who tears up every time she looks at her child because he is a constant reminder of what she could have been but isn’t, he is a constant reminder of all the pain and all the scars imprinted on her palms, scars from fighting back and every single night she wishes she had never brought him to this unforgiving world. And she hates herself for disliking this child, her child, I mean what kind of a mother hates her own child. She had a choice, she made that which she thought was best at that time. So here’s the story of a girl who had two paths, one would be a road of hatred and suffering but she would bring life to this earth. Another would be one of painful decisions, tough calls but a road of healing, one that would give her the life that she dreamt of but probably leave her with a permanent mark. Which one should she pick?!

So should rape victims live with a constant reminder of the hurt simply because abortion is not right? And it is wrong or right according to whose standards?! On the flip side, is it okay to take away life simply because you are not ready? Dear readers, I’d like to know what you think and remember motherhood is not for everyone.
