WOUNDED SOUL

By Josephat Msagha

She felt safe around him,
But her life got wrecked,
Tears kissing her lips ,
A scar so deep,
Brought tremendous waves of pain like the ocean,
Hitting her fragile heart,
She was broken by love turmoil.

They shared fond memories of each other,
From growing together,
Going to the same school,
Into the university to getting jobs,
into getting engaged to marriage,
A bright future together they envisioned,
Marinating their love life with affection, trust and charisma.

They were inseparable on the eyes of many,
As we thought-
Her soul had been shredded into pieces,
Not that she got cheated on,
Nor was she dumbed,
Nor was she getting divorced,
Nor was she heading to a distant land,
The Angel of death had swang by ,
Snatching away it’s bud from the Earth’s face,
Sudden!.

Into a war with the Grimm,
Questioning why he’d snatched her lover,
Through the casket glass she said goodbye,
Into the Earth’s bed he got laid to rest,
Hoping they’ll reunite in the next life,
To heal her wounded soul.
