I Met A Guy

Today was different,
Maybe because I met a guy,
One who looked at me,
With eyes that told me,
He would break my heart,
A guy who showed me his truth,
From the time we shook hands,
A guy who didn’t have to lie to me,
To make me feel better.
I met a guy today,
And I liked this guy,
Again, lucky me.

The guy I met today,
He looked like the man,
Whom I had met years ago,
On a day like today,
Same day,
Same time,
And it was no coincidence,
Because this,
Was the guy from a past,
I didn’t know how to deal with.

It had always been a game of hearts with him,
Of who would win and when,
Of how long it would take,
For the both of us to yield,
When we both had walls,
Higher than we ever imagined.

We were both hurt when we met,
And maybe the pain got us here,
But I met my past,
And I liked him,
Again.
