Raging flames,
Wails and cries of anguish,
The smell of burnt skin,
Roaring of flames,
Chaos, panic, and fear.
All these played vividly in her mind.
Cowering at the scene,
She watched as the firefighters,
Silhouetted against the flames,
Explosions,
Ragged breathing-
She could hear them all.
Shattered glasses,
Collapsed walls,
Sirens from the ambulances,
Painful wails and grief,
She watched as her mother breathed her last,
On the stretcher in the paramedic’s hands;
She watched her die,
Without doing anything to help.
Her entire self reeks of debility,
An empty shell,
A walking corpse, perhaps?
The eerie tombs, too,
Long failed to pinpoint this.
Daisied deity,
But vile blank canvas,
Sweet-cherried,
Yet a skyline of loneliness –
That’s what she’s been like since then.
