Hushed tones, subtle and dreadful,
His gaze never leaves my frame,
No bruises in sight, skin smooth as glass,
Yet deep inside, wounds flourish and impair.
A bone-chilling smile,
Makes my soul shrink, as confidence ebbs,
“Too sensitive,” says the gaslighter,
Each word distorts my mentality.
Friends drift away,
“They never liked you.” I bought the words,
Isolated, lone, and hollow,
The seed of doubt slowly takes root.
The soft snickers taunt; “You’ll never make break the chain.”
The shadow thickens, I ogle at despair,
A dull ache, where only warmth and joy once loomed,
Engulfed by the silence of the cold and dark room.
The mirror reflects an unfamiliar being,
Gaunt and pale,
Reflecting the fall of a once spirited girl,
Would there ever be light?
Or will the darkness forever hover around me?
