White walls, syringes, drips,
Antiseptic, silent cries,
My small frame trembles, like a wounded cub,
As the white coat swishes back and forth before me.
Cold steel, painful stings,
My breathless sighs,
Beeping machines, eerie in rhythm,
Each beep, an engraved memory of pain.
Masked faces,
Hushed tones,
Needles prick deeply,
Enough to turn my body into a canvas of suffering.
Trepidation,
Loosely hovers in the air,
I’m a cracked eggshell,
Trapped in this nightmare, this sterile hell.
Will I ever heal?
Or will I turn into ashes, doomed?
Walls whisper to me;
“You’re a patient for us to mend,”
The chilling sound, unforgettable,
But where did the healthy child go?
When does it end?
