TORCH BEARER

There always comes a point in life to pass the torch,
And when it does, pass when it still flames with might,
When it’s still bright and going,
Not when it’s small and tenuous,
Somber and vanquishing,

Have a good run, and then halt,
It’s not that you are worn out, tired,
But mature to know when you’ve done enough,
When to pass the mantle to the next generation,

As we lead, we are bound to follow too,
There isn’t shame,
We can’t stay forever the same,
We have to curb our ego and pride, tame,

Let’s not cripple out of change in position
Part of the journey is its termination,
You’ve had a good run,
It’s now another’s turn.
