Castrate him!They yelled
Lock him up! They fumed
He’s a disgrace to all men! They sputtered!
He’s a darn coward, piles they uttered
And on what?Accusations they couldn’t affirm
Accused of wrong
Accused of rape
Accused of being a sexual predator
Just because of his gender
Had his name dragged in the mud
Had his career kicked from right underneath him
To stumble and wander, ruined for perpetuity
She knew her power to be believed with no question
Without demure, without hesitation
She crafted lies so fine it made truth question it’s place
She knew he had a family
Except she wanted him as her own
And when he told her he couldn’t
It was to be the end of him
He was seated on his couch
When the cops budged in
Flashing a court warrant to his face
His family broke down in tears
As they read his charges
He couldn’t meet the eyes of his wife
He couldn’t meet the eyes of his daughter
Though he was innocent
He also knew it didn’t matter
It was his word against hers
His family by default would spring to his defence
But deep down they too doubted his innocence
They were women
And they believed all men were the same
There wasn’t exceptions
Except in words
So they believed
As he walked to the police car in cuffs
The onlookers threw insults and cusses
He was done for
Just because of his gender
Gender inequalities goes deep
We all suffer its grip
Let us all stand up to fight it
Lets equalize
