REALITY

By Sheila Mumbo

Mistrust, betrayal, disappointment,
Is the harsh reality of our world,
Sad that it’s the world we both created,
This may be our charm or catch,

We’re both a wild fun together,
Floating in tales of our past, now and future
In a surface full of life and colour,
With a very dark and lifeless bottom,

Each word is warm against the ears,
Embracing me as one of its own,
Assuming that I am new to it,
That to me does not matter,

But in this sad and loud silence,
I hope that I’ll always be around,
That things will get better,
And I will never have to leave.
