I woke up that morning scared
Rushing through a silent park
Stepping on dead purple flowers
The sun’s rays were covered in gray skies
So gray as the inside of me.
My feet and fingers were stiff
Lingering through the morning dew
They couldn’t pick or drop a piece
So I dropped to the ground and stayed
I stayed there until she came.
My h❣️rt beat was lost in my hard flesh
My eyes closed and reduced like fish mesh
I couldn’t feel my empty tummy rumble
All I imagined were the church candles.
Those that stood next to the alter.
I couldn’t perfectly sense her aroma
But her touch felt like my own
So strong and comforting
With words so sweet and soothing
I didn’t know her but she did.
I lost her to the village bar owner
The man who stayed right at the bar corner
With beards so pale without colour
And a shirt of torn collar
His voice made her whirl and follow.
This news was my worst nightmare
A dream I’d fight and lose alone
An unending walk of the night
A walk that slowly choked my breath
Until that fateful morning.
It’s the thirteenth of this month
Am writing next to her mother
Am speaking too to her father
So their blessings would set me free
So I’d walk along the shores of the great sea of love.
She was running back
Back from the holes she had entered
Back from the man she had angered
Back to the man her heart envied
And there he was laid by the road.
