I WANTED

By Sheila Mumbo

I wanted to sing a song

Of my love to the gentle breeze

In the moist scent of morning dew

But could not sing, my voice croaked

I wanted to walk a little

At that dawn when birds sing

Holding the hands of my love

But could not walk, he wasn’t there

I wanted to sleep a little

By the gentle flowing water

Recollecting the memories of us

But could not sleep, I missed us

I wanted to take this path

But I  couldn’t do it alone

I don’t know how to be without you

So I wait for you to come for me
