Watching Them (My Parents)

Watching them makes me hate life,
Makes me hate love,
Makes me hate the idea of marriage.

They were so in love with each other once
But now they can’t stand the sight of each other
How does the one that made you breathe easily
Be the reason you feel choked,
How does a love that saved you once,
Be the reason you want to die?

Misunderstandings and miscommunications,
They just don’t talk to each other,
They talk to everybody else apart from each other…
Still don’t know if it’s their ego,
Or if they are just outlandish.

My mother says my father had broken her trust,
She says she can never trust him again, but then
She goes from church to church seeking help
From greedy bloodsucking pastors
Who are only after the crumbs of her purse

My father says my mother never loved him,
and doesn’t give a shit about him,
But I say, you are a man and
You are supposed to take the bull by its horns,
And address the issue in your marriage.

But no,
Both of them are adults acting like children,
One a slave to religion,
The other a slave to his pride.
They love each other so much
But they just don’t see it,
They don’t believe it anymore

If only they could just talk
Then maybe, they wouldn’t make me hate,
The idea of marriage so much.
