The Girl Whose Smile Dimmed Too Soon

She was just a little girl,
Born into a house filled with smiles,
Dreaming of simple days—
Running free, arms open to the sun.

But the light dimmed early.
At nine, her world cracked,
Trust broken by those she called family,
Her cries swallowed by silence.

They looked away,
Pointed fingers instead of offering hands,
Said she was confused,
When all she wanted was someone to believe her.

The years rolled on,
Hope hanging by threads,
Until another night, another betrayal,
This time among strangers who blamed her still.

“She was too much,” they said.
“Too wild, too drunk.”
Their words stayed with her,
Cutting deeper than the act itself.

Now, she’s a mother.
Her arms, a shield for her child,
Her heart, worn but still beating,
Fighting against love that hurts more than it heals.

Yet somehow, there’s still a flicker inside her,
A quiet rebellion against the dark.
This girl—no, this woman—
Is learning to rise,
To rewrite the story they tried to write for her,
To find the peace she’s always deserved.
